RoofSwap Forum - First time exchanger looking for advice

Hello! We're new to the exchange game. I'm looking through so many wonderful places and trying to target our first swap. I've made a few inquiries but have received no responses. Is this typical? I'm trying to be open, friendly, and polite as well as reading other's "destinations" and descriptions in order to try for a close match. Any advice on how to get people to respond even if we're not perfect based on emails? Or is this expected and I need to just keep trying? Thanks in advance!

Would love to, but the message field count isn't enough to cut/paste a full request-here's a sample of one that was 1113 words. "Would love to be in NY for a month'ish in the fall - you can come to the beach whenever you want (our place is 2nd home, which means flexible dates for you). We're a family of four...respectful...What else can I tell you? Check out our listing and let's talk!"

I have the same problem in the beginning, but I got persistent with sending exchange requests and finally found a swap i wanted.
