I want to set up a swap in LA. What neighborhoods are best for interesting, inexpensive restaurants?

If you're in the area, try Starry Kitchen. It is an Asian Fusion restaurant but they have some amazing food.

Avoid Hollywood and other touristy areas. I found several very authentic restaurants with food from different areas of Mexico. The people I home exchanged with had a long list of their favorite restaurants in walking distance from their house. It was worth it to exchange with them just for that.
